The Fendi Baguette is one of the most essential bags of modern handbag history and the revival of this culturally renowned bag catapulted it back to popularity, ensuring it will forever remain a part of fashion history. This season, Fendi unveils the brand new Baguette 1997, a re-edition of the original signature bag developed by Silvia Venturini Fendi. The revival is introduced in a short video series called The Baguette walk as well as a variety of images showcasing the revamped Baguette 1997.

Taking place in Paris, the series pays homage to the Baguette’s name itself, which appears tucked under the arm, worn just like the namesake French bread that Parisian girls are snapped walking around the streets of Paris with. The Baguette 1997 is of course inspired by the original silhouette, featuring slim sides and an adjustable handle, reviving the renowned essence of this legendary silhouette.

Furthermore, some of the vintage bag’s many powerful materials are brought back with the return of the Baguette 1997, including kitschy sequins and pretty floral embroideries. The archival shapes are shown alongside brand new iterations of this age old shape, featuring the FF Vertigo pattern, which distorts the renowned Fendi FF logo. created in collaboration with artist Sarah Coleman, the warped logo is a cool alternative to the Maison’s classic logo, presenting a psychedelic pattern, creating a visually dizzying effect. The pattern is presented in coated canvas as well as Fendi’s classic brown fabric jacquard.

Whether you’re a new fan of Fendi or an original Baguette devotee, this archival revival is a should have in any collector’s closet. prices for the Baguettes shown here range from $2,950 for the coated canvas version to $3,750 for the sequined Baguette. The Baguette 1997 is available now in Fendi boutiques and on Fendi.com.
